Informed Leadership
I apologize for the lateness of this newsletter but to be honest my head and heart were not in the right place to put it together after the election. Also, it was only this morning that God gave me the topic that He wanted me to talk about. And I do try to write what I feel He is giving to me. The topic for this newsletter is “Informed Leadership”.
A major part of leadership is knowledge and the ability to acquire knowledge so that you can move forward. Leadership entails being informed and a desire to be informed. It is not possible to lead well if you do not know the truth of a situation or the environment that you are walking through. And today, with all of the media options that are available there is no reason to be uninformed. We can easily research topics and do the pros and cons of anything for everything.
The challenge will be rightly divining the truth because there is so much information out there. This is where our spiritual part comes into play. Our spirit will know what is truth and what is not if we are willing to listen to the Holy Spirit. Now you may say that you don’t believe in a Holy Spirit but, if you believe that there is a devil then you have to believe in the Holy Spirit. Why? Because the devil is an evil spirit. So if there are evil spirits, those partnering with the devil, there must be a Holy Spirit and holy or good spirit beings that partner with the Holy Spirit. Jesus spoke about the Holy Spirit and said that it was important for Him, Jesus, to leave the earth so that the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, who would guide us into ALL truth, could come. This Spirit of truth will tell us of things to come because He will reveal to us what He has heard from God the Father and Jesus the Son. John 16: 13 – 15. What I am saying is that the Spirit of truth will guide us into ALL truth if we want it. This is not a crystal ball sort of thing but a guiding into righteousness and safety. But again only if we want it.
If as a leader we make decisions based on fear we will be hard-pressed to move forward in truth. A couple of newsletters ago I wrote on Faith Vs. Fear. This may be a good time to go back and re-read that newsletter. Anything that is built on a lie will collapse. All leaders are builders whether that is building your home, family, business, community, etc. So it is vitally important that when we build we are building on the truth. The Holy Spirit will guide us into the truth of a thing one step at a time. The first step of truth needs to be received and acted on in order to receive the next piece of truth. It is like learning math. We cannot do algebra if we haven’t learned our letters and numbers. And it is the same with truth.
Truth starts with acknowledging that there is a God and that we need Him in our lives. That we cannot successfully do life on our own. Scripture tells us that the fear of the Lord or reverence of God is the beginning of wisdom. If we do not reverence God there is a major piece of wisdom that we will never be able to tap into. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of wisdom. But if we do not reverence God we will not respect or value the voice of the Holy Spirit and as a result we will not receive the guidance that we need when we need it. God will not force us to know what is to come. He will not tell just anyone what He thinks and what the Heavenly Father is saying.
As a leader we have to acknowledge where we are and then educate ourselves so that we can become an informed leader. An informed leader does not make decisions based on fear but on truth. And a righteous leader should be making decision based on the leading of the Holy Spirit who is truth. I pray that I have given you something to think about.
Also, please pray for Canada and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you as you pray.
