Sacrifice That Leads to His Glory
This month I am continuing my unpacking of 2 Chronicles 7: 1 – 3.
I have His Spirit in me but do I have His glory in me? I will only have His glory in me to the extent that I allow the Holy Spirit to have the freedom to take over control of my soul and body. As I allow the Spirit’s fire to purify my soul (mind, will and emotions) I can be a house or temple where the glory of God can reside. The glory will not reside in a dirty vessel. The blood of Jesus removed the edict that was against us which brought us under God’s judgement. Our sins were washed away never to be remembered or spoken of again and our spirits were renewed. This put us in a position to house the presence of God.
The Holy Spirit has been given to lead us into all truth and to give us insight into the word of God which washes us clean on a daily basis, if we read it every day. The Holy Spirit’s role is to purify our minds, our emotions and to guide us into all truth to get us to the point where our will is His will. The intent is to get us so aligned with the mind of Christ that the glory of God will be manifested in our lives. But we have to be willing to humble ourselves before God and to offer up those things that we need to give to Him. The sacrifices are the things in our lives that the Spirit reveals to us need to be removed from our lives. Then we need to be willing to give those things up and to accept the position that God has for us in His family, in His Kingdom. The world needs true believers, those who take a biblical world view and not a societal world view. True believers are the only ones who will have the answers that the world is looking for since they are connected to the one who is truth. As a result the answers we come up with will be based on truth and not a lie. But, we won’t be able to access the answers if we are not able to humble ourselves before God. Being willing to humble oneself before Almighty God is the beginning of wisdom and true leadership. If we are willing to take our rightful position, which is a spiritual one, not one of the mind (logic) or emotions, we will be able to see the truth of a situation. If we are able to interact more from a spiritual position then we will be able to get a spiritual response or solution from the Godhead. And as we implement the spiritual solution we will see a manifestation of the glory of God in the natural realm. The spiritual solution from the Godhead is the correct and only effective solution for the material world. God desires to do us good not harm but He does need our cooperation to effect this in our world.
In the scriptural passage the glory of God filled the house/temple of God. Today, after Calvary, I am or you are His house, His temple. If we are willing to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice and allow the fire of God (His Spirit) to cleanse our hearts and minds then we will be able to walk in His glory. And that glory will be evident to all. In this passage it says that the children of Israel saw the fire come down from heaven and the glory of the Lord on the temple. What they witnessed caused them to bow down and worship.
The world is looking for answers. People know that things are not right, that things seem to be mixed up and that there is a lack of common sense and good leadership. The world needs to see the implementation of leadership that produces effective solutions that is meeting the needs of people. They need to see the people of God walking in His glory and doing that which will bring relief to the hurting and oppressed. True leadership is that which combines the spiritual with effective results enabling people to be set free from the chains that bind them. Will you take up the challenge to be one of those spiritual leaders? I hope so. I am willing to be one of them.
