Exploring the Interconnectedness of Spirituality, Leadership and Business
Sacrifice That Leads to His Glory
True leadership takes place when we learn to live from the spirit and not from the soul or body. Learning to live from the spirit means that we will no longer be controlled by our soul (will, mind and emotions) or the desires of our body. Our spirit will dictate what we do and not our fallen nature ( soul and body). The question is: as leaders who have chosen to follow Jesus are we willing to offer Him our soul and body? Have we dedicated ourselves to Him? I believe that we can accept the work of Jesus on Calvary but not dedicate ourselves to God. What would dedication look like?
If you have read 2 Chronicles 7: 1 – 3 you will notice that the fire fell after King Solomon had finished praying. He had humbled himself before God, he was willing to give his time back to God and to spend time with Him in prayer. Prayer is just having a conversation with Almighty God and it can take place anywhere at anytime in any posture. King Solomon had prepared offerings and sacrifices and in last month’s newsletter I had mentioned that Paul had told us to present ourselves as a living sacrifice, which is our reasonable service, Rom 12: 1. The glory fell because the sacrifices had been made and were allowed to be consumed by the fire of God. What offerings and/or sacrifices are we making so that the fire of God can consume them?
When I wrote last month’s newsletter I never thought that we would see a real life enactment of Rom 12: 1. But I would say that the murder of Charlie Kirk was that. Every time he went onto a college campus or school to debate truth from a biblical perspective he was telling God “I am willing to be a sacrifice for you.” He went into the enemy’s camp without fear, full of the love of Jesus and His truth. I am not saying that everything he did and said was spot on since he was human and therefore, subject to error. But he was willing to be a sacrifice. He showed leadership in the face of opposition. Regardless of how people may have viewed him he was a leader who chose to put it all on the altar for Jesus.
The glory of God won’t fall if there is no willingness to offer a sacrifice. The glory is preceded by the fire which purifies and there is a reason that the fire has to fall first. If the glory fell without the purification of the fire coming before it mankind would be destroyed. The glory is the presence of God and God will not fellowship with a dirty vessel or sin. What, as leaders, are we willing to put on the altar? Our pride, family, resources, desires, what? According to Paul we should be putting ourselves on the altar, which means, everything that is connected to or associated with us is up for grabs. Are we willing to do that? If not, then there’ll be no fire from heaven and the glory (presence of God) will not be seen.
I think that we can all agree that the world is in a mess. And it has been for decades but it is like the frog put in cold water that is slowly heated up until the frog is cooked. Mankind has been being led down a path of non involvement and complacency. As a result we have ended up in a pressure cooker because we were following leaders who were not willing to humble themselves before God, nor pray, nor offer acceptable offerings and sacrifices to Him. COVID was the start of helping us see that something was seriously amiss. Will we jump out of the cooker and become those who will humble themselves and pray and offer themselves daily as a living sacrifice? Why do this? So that the glory of God can be seen. So that mankind can walk out of the darkness and into the light. There has to be those who will show them the way to the truth which is life in Jesus and life more abundantly. If you are not willing to do it who will? Has it not occurred to you that the reason you are here now is because you have a part to play in God’s plans? God is going to have His harvest of souls and He is looking for those who will humble themselves and be willing to align their thoughts and actions with His plans instead of their own. We need to be willing to help people walk out of the darkness into the light. I pray that you will choose to be one of those leaders.
Blessings,
Sunday
