FOUNDATIONS

Hello My Friends:

We are at the beginning of a new year and hopefully we will be building and growing. Any good growth will be dependent upon the foundation that is being built or has been built. The foundation that we build is essential because everything that comes after is depending upon the solidity of that foundation. If there are cracks or missing pieces, what is being built on that foundation is in peril. It will come crashing down like a house of cards. Therefore, it is vitally important to ensure that the foundation is properly established and secured. No cutting of corners. Do the hard work and build a secure foundation. And, I would suggest that the foundation to be worked upon in this new year is ourselves. Whether we identify as a business owner, employee, self-employed, leader, whatever. Any growth and advancement in the world is based on what humankind does. Therefore, the foundation is us. So, the question is “How do we ensure that our foundation is solid and secure”? I am going to put forward a few suggestions that I will develop as the year progresses. They are as follows:

1.  You need to know who you are 

You may say “That’s crazy! I know who I am.” But do you really? Where is that understanding coming from? Is it coming from the media, your culture, your family, your peers? Is that projection or identification based on truth? We should only receive the label of who we are if, and only if, it is based on truth. And the question

is, do they have that truth? Have they demonstrated that they consistently walk and move in truth at all times? If not, question and delve into that label for yourself.

2.  You need to know what you believe

Really believe deep down in your heart. It you espouse a certain mindset or perspective would you be willing to die for it? If not, then I would suggest that at best you think it is a really good concept but it is not worth your full commitment or life. And this knowing what you believe is where the rubber hits the road because it impacts everything we do and say.

3.  You need to know ‘why’ you believe what you believe

And what you find out may surprise you. Many of us have not stopped to determine why we believe what we believe. Our beliefs may be rooted in traditions, fear, etc. But the ‘why’ needs to be identified in order to get to the vital step that will lead to growth, development and advancement.

4.  Then you need to know ‘why’ you are here

Why are you on the planet at this time in history? What is your purpose? I don’t believe that any of us are here by accident. And if you haven’t recognized or admitted to yourself yet that there is something incredible in the process of unfolding, let me tell you that there is. And you need to become aware of what is taking place and choose to participate in it. But, you can only do that if 1) you know who you are, 2) you know what you believe. 3) you know why you believe it and 4) you have identified or are willing to identify your purpose for being alive in 2024.

I am going to unpack these in 2024, or at least I am going to start the unpacking. I am not sure how it will unfold but I hope that  you are up for the challenge.
